Facebook : A Social Network

 


              Information technology has brought an unmatchable revolution in the field of information and communication ; 'Facebook' as its new innovation has appeared as a social network service and website launched in February , 2004 . Nowadays , many people are used to using Facebook and its has become their culture . It has both pros and cons .

            Facebook users create profiles with photos , lists of personal interests , contact information , and other personal information ,too . They can communicate with their friends ,both real & virtual , through private or public messages . One of the most popular applications of the Facebook is the photos application where users can upload an unlimited number of photos . Privacy system can be set for individual albums by limiting users . Similarly, another feature of the photos application is the ability to 'tag' users in a photos . 

      Facebook definitely provides users with multiple advantages . For example, it helps users make friends who have never been introduced before . By the result, they can make many friends in life and can exchange their interests, desires, opinions & information . It untimely leads the users to unity . Similarly, we can keep ourselves in touch with our relatives and family who are far from us . Facebook substantially contributes to the globalization of culture because people as Facebook users share their cultural attributes and it ultimately leads human society to an integrated entity that does not allows discrimination .

        Despite some advantages, Facebook certainly owns some negative affects as well . It may be over-used and misused by the users . For instance, if a Facebook user makes a dirty  comment Facebook of the other, it is likely to spoil the latter's social reputation . likewise, some users are intoxicated with Facebook ;they are likely to forget their daily chores and get on busy on Facebook .Similarly if students use Facebook more than required, it may lead them to failure in their study .

         Facebook is advantageous to its users if used properly .Facebook has been widely used in most of the countries . We need to be selective to use this gift of science and technology properly to enhance our status .
